729 Friendship BATTLE 2 Provincial

Many players know and appreciate the Battle II made by the Chinese manufacturer 729 Friendship. The Battle II Province is a version of this rubber offering more power. Rubbers made by Chinese table tennis material manufacturers often come in several versions. This rubber, for example, was specially developed for a local Chinese team.

The topsheet is, of course, the same as in the well-known Battle II (otherwise, the rubber would have had to go through a separate approval process). It is extremely tacky, so the ball can literally be slightly lifted and sticks to the rubber. What’s new in this rubber is the sponge, which is a lot more dynamic, despite being softer (40°). The open-pore sponge provides much more power than the hard, 47° sponge of the standard Battle II rubber.

The rubber is a highly interesting alternative for players seeking points mainly through high-rotation strokes from mid-distance. While the standard version of the Battle two requires players to be close to the table, the Battle II Province offers many more options for a classical, European style of play. The rubber’s tacky surface enables very short and high-spin serve and return strokes.
